"Gauri Kund is often known to be frozen. The story goes that once a woman with a baby tied to her back came to the pond. As she bent over, the child fell into the lake and drowned. The gods, in their effort to avoid such occurrences ever again, froze the lake. As on our previous visit, we found the lake appear like a liquid jade green marble tabletop, with not a streak of snow or ice on it."
