Newt Gingrich To Write Foreword for America's Best ZoosZoo enthusiast promotes America's zoos as family entertainment(BRANFORD, CT September 13, 2007) – Former Speaker of the House and environmental advocate, Newt Gingrich, will write the Foreword for the forthcoming family travel guide, America’s Best Zoos by Allen Nyhuis and Jon Wassner. Gingrich, co-author of A Contract With The Earth, which promotes environmental stewardship as a mainstream value, has been a life-long fan of zoos. As a child, he harbored dreams of becoming a zookeeper, then a zoo director. While a member of Congress, Gingrich was instrumental in bringing a pair of Chinese pandas, Yang Yang and Lun Lun, to Zoo Atlanta. Contrary to popular belief, Gingrich’s first name is not a reference to his fondness for amphibians; it is an Anglicization of the Danish name “Knut.” America’s Best Zoos: A Travel Guide for Fans and Families, is a comprehensive guide to the sixty best zoos in the USA, with information on top zoo exhibits, special features for kids, wildlife shows and other ‘edutainment,’ along with touring tips from these zoo experts. It will be published in May, 2008, by The Intrepid Traveler. Quick Facts For more information about America’s Best Zoos, to request a review copy, or to interview the authors, contact: Alexis Elder
