Paris Movie Walks Author Scores Big on TripatiniBlog posts earn the votes of travel enthusiastsLet’s face it. Facebook is one of today’s most amusing time wasters. But now travel buffs have Tripatini, a social network and blog where travelers and travel experts share their experiences and learn how to travel better and smarter. Michael Schürmann, author of Paris Movie Walks: Ten Guided Tours Through the City of Lights! Camera! Action!, published by The Intrepid Traveler, and a travel buff in his own right, has been scoring points with Tripatini’s fans. Paris Movie Walks was featured as Tripatini’s “Read of the Week” last fall. Then, three of Schürmann’s entries were given high marks by readers as part of Tripatini’s competition in which bloggers were invited submit posts to the site. Whoever received the most unique views for their post during the week earned a $100 prize and, of course, bragging rights. As a result Schürmann is $300 richer. His first entry was the update on the movie, “Inception.” True to the theme of Paris Movie Walks, Schürmann focused on the scene that was shot in Paris, but engineered in London, and featured a French street café that was converted from an Italian deli by filmmakers. Schürmann’s second entry, titled “Easy Hiking in Paris," described a hike through the western suburbs of Le Pecq and St Germain-en-Laye. The operative word here is “easy” since even his elderly dog was able to enjoy the hike. The article is accompanied by photographs from the hike. The final winning post – at least to date – is a photograph titled “My Beautiful Drainpipe,” found at the Hotel de Lauzun at 17 quai d’Anjou on Ile Saint-Louis in the 4th arrondissment. The hotel was the center of evil in the film The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp. Schürmann took the shot while updating photos for the upcoming iPhoto app for Paris Movie Walks.
