Seth Kubersky To Co-Author Universal Orlando Guide

Orlando journalist joins team at The Intrepid Traveler

(Branford, Connecticut)  Travel publisher The Intrepid Traveler has announced that Seth Kubersky, an Orlando-based journalist, is joining its team of theme park guidebook authors.

Kubersky will bring many years of experience with central Florida’s theme park scene to his new role as co-author of Universal Orlando: The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Theme Park Adventure.

“I’m very excited to have Seth on board,” says Kelly Monaghan, who has been covering Orlando for nearly 15 years and writing the book solo for its past 8 editions. “Seth’s insider knowledge will be a real addition to the series.”

Kubersky gained his deep knowledge of the sights and sounds of Universal Orlando by helping stage some of its most memorable spectacles. Among his many credentials at the parks are technician for the Terminator 2: 3-D attraction, stage manager for Halloween Horror Nights, talent supervisor for Mardi Gras, and producer of the Rocky Horror Picture Show “Live” at Universal Cineplex.

The list of Kubersky’s memorable experiences at Universal is equally long. He’s ridden the Terminator’s motorcycle onstage, marched in a parade in an inflatable alligator costume, spent whole nights in a haunted house, and performed on stage in a corset and fishnet stockings. Since his first visit over 17 years ago, Kubersky has lived and breathed Universal.

“I’ve witnessed the Resort’s growth from the perspective of an employee, annual passholder, journalist, and neighbor,” says Kubersky, noting that his home is just four minutes away.

Outside of his work at Universal, Kubersky has directed and produced shows across central Florida. He is also an experienced journalist, writing the weekly “Live Active Cultures” column for Orlando Weekly, the city’s alternative newspaper.

“We couldn’t be happier to have Seth and Kelly collaborating,” says Sally Scanlon, Associate Publisher at The Intrepid Traveler, publisher of the guidebook. “Both of them have great senses of humor and together they’re going to make a great book even better.”

Their first joint effort is the 2010 edition of Universal Orlando, which will reach bookstores in early November. It will offer the first guidebook review of the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster as well as a preview of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter area in Islands of Adventure.

The Intrepid Traveler publishes a number of books about the theme park scene in central Florida, including Hidden Mickeys and The Hassle-Free Walt Disney World Vacation by Steven M. Barrett, Spinning Disney’s World, by Disney Legend Charles Ridgway, and SeaWorld Discovery Cove & Aquatica by Monaghan.
