Universal Orlando's Ultimate Guide Updated for 11th Time

New edition has current information on attractions, rides and resorts

(Branford, CT) – In keeping current with Florida’s favorite mouse-free theme park, Universal Orlando 2012: The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Theme Park Adventure, published by the Intrepid Traveler, has been updated and revised for the 11th time.

What makes Universal Orlando 2012 unique among guidebooks is its insider information on making the most of the experience: the best ways to access the parks, best ways to circumvent lines, what to take with you, dining costs, in short “good things to know” and “what to expect.”

Theme park aficionado, arts columnist and former Universal Orlando backstage employee Seth Kubersky has revisited each and every attraction, reporting on their various updates.

“Islands of Adventure has a year of Harry Potter under its belt,” says Kubersky. “Its popularity has only increased.”

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been attracting thousands since its opening in June 2010. Universal Orlando: The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Theme Park Adventure provided the first eyewitness reviews of Hogwart’s Castle, the three major rides – Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Dragon Challenge, and Flight of the Hippogriff. And the Butterbeer? “It’s every bit as good as you dreamed,” says Kubersky.

In addition, Kubersky notes that Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast has closed and is being replaced by “Despicable Me,” an attraction based on the film. Opening in 2012, Despicable Me is based on the same simulator hardware from Jimmy Neutron with the addition of “4K” digital 3-D projectors for extra sharp visual effects.

Each of the attractions at Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and CityWalk are described in detail: the rides, “short subjects,” dining, and shopping. Updated information on each of the three resort hotels – Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, and Royal Pacific – is included, along with listings for off-site lodging. Restaurants within the parks are categorized according to location, type, cuisine, and price.

Before the magic wears off, you can order Universal Orlando 2012: The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Theme Park Adventure for just $10.69, which is 33 percent off the retail price. You can also preview the book. Just click here.
