WDW Radio Wins People's Choice AwardNamed Best Travel Podcast for 5th year(Naples, Fla.) The people have spoken. They made their opinions known and selected WDW Radio, hosted by Lou Mongello, as the Best Travel Podcast for 2010 in the 6th Annual People’s Choice Podcast Awards. It was the fifth year that Mongello was honored by his listeners. The show can be accessed at http://wdradio.com. Mongello, author of The Walt Disney World Trivia Books, Volumes 1 and 2, has been producing the show since 2005. “I started when no one knew anything about podcasting,” he said. “It was really an honor to be nominated again,” he said. “I didn’t go out and ask … the audience went out on their own. It’s less about the show and more about the people. The support is humbling.” Mongello said seven out of 10 shows nominated were theme park or Disney related. The competition was stiff. “It’s a testament to the strength and unity of the Disney community,” Mongello said. They’re all great shows.” Mongello’s love for all things Disney began at the age of 3. He describes the WDW Trivia Books as the culmination of all of his “useless knowledge” about Walt Disney World. The books serve as a collection of lesser known facts about WDW, trivia, and the “magic” that attracts millions of people to the parks each year. Mongello also has a vast collection of WDW memorabilia, including rare documents that outline Walt Disney’s original plans for WDW, books and article about the parks and materials available only to WDW cast members. The Walt Disney World Trivia Books can be used for family games at home. In addition, they’re good company for a trip to any of the Disney parks, while on the road and once you get to the parks. WDW Radio provides an ongoing selection of broadcasts, blogs, forums, interviews and information on all things Disney. Mongello is in the middle of planning a four-night Bahamas cruise aboard the Disney Dream, from Feb. 27 to March 3. The cruise will include visits to the ports of Nassau and Castaway Cay.
