The WDW Radio Show Wins People’s Choice Podcast Award for “Best Travel Podcast”Second consecutive win for show host Lou Mongello(SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Aug. 15, 2007) -- The listeners have spoken. For the second year in a row, the voters in the People’s Choice Podcast Awards have selected Lou Mongello as the host of the Best Travel Podcast. Mongello’s award-winning weekly podcast, The WDW Radio Show (www.wdwradio.com) features news and rumors about Walt Disney World; interviews with Disney Legends, Imagineers, and Artists; special guests, listener participation, vacation planning advice and reviews, contests, history and trivia. The WDW Radio Show interviews have included such Disney Legends as Charlie Ridgway, and former Imagineer George McGinnis who reveal the rich history of Disney’s parks and what it was like working for Walt Disney himself. Other special guests have included Michael Broggie, and Senior Design Manager for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts - Disney Design Group, Mark Seppala. Todd Cochrane, Founder of the People’s Choice Podcast Awards (www.PodcastAwards.com), says that “Over the course of the awards process, over 350,000 people initially nominated 4097 shows, of those 220 were selected by the independent review team through a formal review process.” The shows that made the cut were voted on over a two week period, during which 1.3 million people voted for the slate of shows. “This level of participation truly makes the People's Choice Podcast Awards the People's Choice - no other podcasting award allows the audience to decide what shows are the very best. Each winner will be presented a uniquely crafted award, along with additional prizes as provided by the event sponsors.” Mongello, however, sees the awards as just a beginning. “More than anything, this award is something that I hope will benefit the Disney community as a whole, and will turn on a whole new group of people to the many great Disney podcasts out there. I think podcasting has evolved and matured in a very short period of time, and hope that the award will serve to prove that what we are doing is really a legitimate form of media that is presented with professionalism, integrity and, most of all, passion behind it.” In every episode of The WDW Radio Show, Mongello’s love for Walt Disney World and his knowledge of the Disney Theme Parks shines through. His “Seven Wonders of Walt Disney World” segments highlight some of the most amazing aspects of the vacation kingdom based on input from his listeners. With the help of special guest Jeff Pepper, Mongello takes listeners on virtual tours of the detailed environments created by the Disney Imagineers in the show’s “DSI: Disney Scene Investigation” segments. Guests on the show may be challenged by the “Fact or Fiction” segment, where Mongello shares his expertise in Disney trivia in a fun, friendly quiz, and the “Best of the Best” segment highlights the very best Disney has to offer in the Walt Disney World theme parks and resorts. Each week the show also features the latest Disney news and the hottest rumors about the theme parks. New episodes of The WDW Radio Show are released weekly and can be found at www.WDWradio.com. Listeners may download the show and listen to it directly from their web browser, or subscribe to it and have it automatically downloaded to their computer or portable music device when it is released. Unlike traditional radio, all of the show’s episodes are always available for download, making the content much more accessible. Besides hosting The WDW Radio Show, Mongello is the author of The Walt Disney World Trivia Books (volumes 1 and 2), as well as webmaster of www.DisneyWorldTrivia.com, which includes one of the largest Disney fan communities on the internet. He is the Chief Technology Officer for a medical imaging company, is married and the father of two children. In 2006, his previous podcast show, MouseTunes, won the Best Travel Podcast award. When asked what he was going to do now that he won the award, Mongello replied with a smile, “I’m going to Disney World!” For more information about The Walt Disney World Trivia Books or to interview Lou Mongello, contact: Alexis Elder The Intrepid Traveler
